Carmel, Indiana

The
area known as
Carmel, Indiana originated in 1837 as the
Town of Bethlehem and was inhabited by Quakers and was known for its fur
trading. Because another town had registered Bethlehem as its name, the
town was officially incorporated as "Carmel" in 1874. A suburb of
Indianapolis, Carmel has a population of some 80,000 residents and
boasts a thriving economy. The

system, the
Carmel Monon Center featuring the Outdoor Aqua Park, offers water
activities and a mega-fitness center. The
Carmel City
Center features both retail space and restaurants along with office
space, penthouses and apartments. Also included is a boutique hotel and
performing arts center housing a 500-seat theater, an outdoor
amphitheater and a 1600-seat performance hall.
Carmel
Clay schools boast an excellent public school system with its
students' scholastic, artistic and athletic achievements consistently
outstanding year after year. SAT scores indicate Carmel Clay students
are well-prepared for institutions of higher learning.
